There's some exciting news to crow about! Allow me to introduce my new friend, Elsa. The Board wrote a detailed account of Elsa's journey to FCFS, I'll relax and let them take it from here. As always, have a Roo-rrific day and a restful night. This is Bolin, signing off.
This Wednesday Elsa was rescued by two local Atlanta residents: Natalie, a longtime volunteer, sponsor, and supporter of the Full Circle Farm Sanctuary residents, and Kelly, who passionately volunteers her time to help stray cats and dogs in the city.Â
On Monday, after seeing a post about a stray dog that needed help, Kelly went to search a neighborhood in West ATL. While there, she came across a chicken scrounging for food and roaming the streets. The neighbors were unaware whose chicken it was and they had no plans to help her. She returned on Tuesday, and found the hen resting on a window. As we braced for storm Cora this week, temperatures plummeted to as low as 19 degrees. It was clear the hen needed immediate assistance. Through a mutual friend Kelly was connected with Natalie, who reached out to FCFS for help.Â
According to people living in the area, Elsa had been completely alone, fending for herself in this cold weather for over a month. One day she appeared in the neighborhood and no one knew how she got there. No one in the neighborhood mentioned feeding her. It appears Elsa was eating what she could find on her own. She was in the middle of the city, managing to survive the cold and avoid the stray dogs and cats in the area.Â
Elsa is clearly a strong, fierce hen - Natalie and Kelly returned on Wednesday to track her down and prepare to bring her to FCFS. They found Elsa marching through people’s yards like she owned the place. She made Natalie and Kelly work extra hard to safely secure her. Being alone with no help likely made her wary of humans.Â
She loved munching on the blueberries they offered her. Once inside the carrier and put into the car, Elsa seemed nervous, but kept her cool.
