THE
RESIDENTS

ABLE TO GROW OLD
Puck, 15 years old
Full Circle Farm Sanctuary is home to more than 100 individual residents, most of whom are survivors of an agricultural system that treated them as commodities. At the sanctuary, they are provided lifelong care and the freedom to age on their own terms, with support that adapts as their needs change.

Nothing is asked of them, and nothing is taken from them. They are not ours — we are theirs. The role of the sanctuary is to ensure their days are healthy, peaceful, and fulfilling.

Many residents live with long-term health impacts resulting from selective breeding for rapid growth, high milk production, excessive egg laying, or heavy wool yields. Traits developed for efficiency and profit often lead to chronic and complex medical needs. Though residents no longer live within agricultural systems, their bodies still reflect those conditions. Care is structured accordingly, including species-appropriate nutrition, proactive treatment planning, and close daily monitoring — especially as residents enter their senior years.

Farmed animals have far less access to specialized veterinary care than dogs and cats, largely because modern agricultural systems are not designed to support long lifespans. As a result, senior care for farmed animals remains uncommon. At Full Circle Farm Sanctuary, residents are encouraged to grow old, and every appropriate option is explored to support their health, comfort, and wellbeing.

Each resident is recognized as an individual. Whether they seek connection or prefer solitude, they receive equal consideration and respect. They are valued for who they are, not for what they produce.

While each life here is important in its own right, residents also represent the billions still living within animal agriculture. Their care demonstrates what becomes possible when compassion, accountability, and long-term stewardship guide decision-making.

Across 13 species and more than 100 residents, each individual brings their own history, personality, and perspective.
