Approaching the Close of Q1

March is already underway, and with it comes the close of the first quarter of the year.
Quarterly checkpoints are an important part of how the sanctuary operates. They create space to pause, review what has been accomplished, and take an honest look at what still needs attention. Over the past several weeks, the Board has been doing exactly that—assessing the progress made during the opening months of the year and identifying priorities as the sanctuary prepares to move into the second quarter.
Some of that progress is visible across the land. Pasture improvements, infrastructure updates, and resident milestones often mark the passage of time here. Other efforts happen more quietly: managing supply costs, coordinating veterinary care, maintaining equipment, and ensuring the systems that support daily care remain reliable.
Both forms of work are essential.
Sanctuary care is lifelong care, which means every decision must balance immediate needs with long-term stability. The land, the infrastructure, and the operational systems that support daily life must remain strong so that the individuals who live here can continue to receive consistent, thoughtful care.
March itself is shaping up to be a full month before the transition into Q2. Several projects and operational priorities are already underway, reflecting the steady pace that sanctuary life requires.
Progress in a sanctuary rarely happens in dramatic leaps. More often, it unfolds through careful planning, daily attention, and the quiet consistency required to sustain lifelong care.
The seasons move forward, and so does the work that sustains sanctuary life.
In stewardship and service to the residents,
The FCFS Board
