Lucky
We are so grateful to welcome our newest resident LUCKY, a beautiful baby Cornish hen. On Friday, Lucky fell from a transport truck carrying several hundred chickens just like sweet Lucky. They were on their way to be slaughtered and then eaten by people. Through an act of kindness, Crissy Conger Berger who witnessed her fall from the truck and pulled over to save her from the side of the road. Lucky found her way to dedicated Full Circle Volunteers, JD and Kyle Norris who provided her a safe home for the evening. Lucky was taken to UGA for a full medical evaluation. Unfortunately, Lucky has a couple of medical issues, including suffering from a hernia which is common went chickens are purposely bred to be severely overweight as extremely young ages. Lucky's muscles were not given time to grow strong enough to support the weight. Given the young age and current condition, surgery will be placed on hold for a bit. Additionally, Lucky has bumblefoot, which is also a common condition for chickens who are bred to be overweight. Despite all this, Lucky is bright-eyed and chirping little baby chirps which make us optimistic about her future life with us.
